I am reading The Boy In The Striped Pajamas, a book that takes place during the Holocaust. In the book Bruno just met the Jewish boy in the Concentration Camp named Shmuel. They are beginning tot be close friends and Bruno doesn't really understand what's going on why Shmuel is in there. During the time of the Holocaust it affected many things/people and led to many things that are happening today. One thing that is still going on today that was related to the Holocaust is the war between Israel and Palestine. After WWll the Allied powers thought Jews needed a "safe place" after so many dying during the Holocaust. So they took land from Palestine to make Israel, making Palestine very mad. The land they had taken away from Palestine was their cultural land and it made the Palestinians very mad. When they got mad they retaliated and still to this day they are at war over Israel. This event relates to my book because it was the conflict of the Holocaust and if the Holocaust never happened the war between Palestine and Israel most likely wouldn't have happened.

The Holocaust was a very devastating time for everyone. Many innocent lives were lost and families were split apart. The book I chose to read was The Boy In The Striped Pajamas. The book is based on a wealthy family that has to move because his dad is starting a "very special job". When they arrive at their new house Bruno, the main character, notices their house is nothing like their last. Later on Bruno notices many men and kids behind his house in a big area surrounded by a fence. One day Bruno wonders off and meets a little boy and Bruno does't understand why hes on the other side. This book relates to the real life Holocaust because it shows the reader how kids that were not in camps and shows how little they knew about what was happening. " His skin was almost the colour of grey, but not quite like any grey that Bruno had ever seen before". In this part Bruno is learning things about the boy he finds inside the camp that he had never known before. He finds the life of the boy and his name very interesting and different. During this time not only were Jews shoved in Concentration Camps but, WW ll and their "ruler" Hitler.
